Jeanette Smith
Born and raised in Torbay, Jea is a traditional landscape artist. Her paintings are inspired by the beautiful countryside of Devon and Cornwall and characterised by her meticulous attention to detail.
She spends hours a day working and it can take many weeks to sometimes months to complete a piece of work, often returning to the scene several times to make sure she has captured the presence.
The subjects of many of these works are taken from South Devon rivers at locations chosen for their particular appeal in terms of colour and natural beauty.
She has now been working as a full time professional artist since her watercolour painting of the River Teign upstream of Fingle Bridge won first prize in the landscape category of Artist of the Year 2008 in Artists & Illustrators magazine.
